After working for apparel companies she became an independent freelance designer, creating designs for women, babies and children. Pretty good translation of a major Japanese sewing book

If you are at all acquainted with the current market of Japanese sewing books, you probably have heard of the name Yoshiko Tsukiori. She's one of the most popular and prolific authors in her field, with a multitude of fans around the world. This book is the first in a series of 3 volumes named Stylish Dress Book, and very often seen discussed in sewing blogs and community sites. For example, the French sewing community Japan Couture Addicts [...] has literally hundreds of member posts of projects from this book (both the original Japanese and the French editions). I highly recommend visiting this site to see what sorts of styles are included in this book, and to inspire your creativity with ideas of how the styles can be executed.

The designs in this book have a distinctly quaint, countryside aesthetic, best suited for printed woven cottons, such as those produced by Liberty of London (prominently featured in this book). If your tastes range more toward the current RTW trends or more modern deconstructed styles, you might not find the dresses very appealing. The sizes in this book covers bust measurements 78cm (30.75 inches) to 102cm (40.25 inches), which is broader than what the original Japanese edition offered. It seems they added in 2 larger sizes for the American edition. If you are larger than this size range, you might still be able to use the patterns provided, as the designs have a fairly large amount of ease, and most people seem to go a size or two down to achieve a closer fit. If you have a little bit of experience with pattern resizing, then it would probably be pretty straightforward to resize the patterns, as the pieces are mostly boxy and geometric, and the construction is pretty simple and mostly involves straight-line sewing.

*A note to people not familiar with Japanese-style sewing books*
The patterns in this book, as with pretty much all other Japanese sewing books, come printed on sheets of poster-sized paper inserted in the back of the book. The pieces overlap with each other, to save space, but they are color-coded to help you tell them apart. You must trace them onto a separate piece of paper (e.g. Sewable Swedish Tracing Paper or Bienfang Sketching Paper) and use the traced copy to make the dress. You also have to add seam allowances after you trace out each piece, and the instructions for each dress includes a cutting layout diagram that shows you how much to add for each seam. It is important that you are aware of this if you are considering buying this or any other Japanese sewing book. If you are unable or unwilling to trace out the patterns and add seam allowances by hand, then this book will not be of much use to you.

The quality of the translation is very good. Even though you can obtain almost all of the necessary information through the diagrams alone, the written directions are very well translated, conveying clear meaning and retaining the succinctness of the original Japanese. This edition does seem to omit the short general information section from the Japanese original. There's one page in the front of the book that has the size table, with a paragraph explaining the general format of the patterns, but otherwise no guidance is given for how to use this book, nor are there any general construction tips. Thus, you should probably have some rudimentary experience with dressmaking before tackling this book. This book assumes that you already possess the sort of knowledge given in sewing books like The Colette Sewing Handbook. If you have already made one or two garments, you can probably handle the projects in this book just fine.

I was very glad to see that they kept the metric measurements from the original edition. They added in Imperial unit conversions to make it more accessible to American readers, but noted that the metric measurements will give greater precision. Seriously, why are we still on Imperial units? Even the British have gone metric now.

One thing that irks me a little about this edition is that the printing seems to be lower quality than the Japanese original. The colors are super-saturated and the photos are fuzzy. One of the things I really love about Japanese sewing books is the gorgeous photography of all the styles in the book; and the poor printing quality of the copy I received rather detracts from that enjoyment. Perhaps later batches will have better printing quality.

Overall, I rate this edition at 4.5, for its low-quality printing. I'll round it up to 5 since the translation is quite good, and all of the important content from the original edition is faithfully retained. If you enjoy making clothes, you should definitely pick up a copy, as there are lots of easy and fun dresses in this book, and all the construction steps are not only clearly explained in words, but also meticulously diagramed. If you are able to obtain a copy of the original Japanese edition, I would recommend getting that instead, as that edition has much higher production values, and so would probably be more visually enjoyable.

All in all, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sewing. The dresses are pretty easy to make, but also give you a lot of room for creativity (as you can see on Japan Couture Addicts), and so novice and veteran sewers alike will find something interesting to do with this book. The diagrams are simply phenomenal, and make the construction process very easy to understand, so it's accessible to sewers with limited experience. Finally, I think it's nice to explore some different styles. The dresses in this book are very different from the types of patterns you get from McCall's and Simplicity, and I think being exposed to a different aesthetic helps you build your personal design vocabulary, which will help you create more awesome clothes :) I also highly recommend the Drape Drape series, by Hisako Sato, and any book by Machiko Kayaki. A pleasant book

This is a nice book, but it is definitely best suited to slimmer builds. Most of the dresses are cute, but they generally follow variations of the same dress. If you are an experienced seamstress, this book won't be difficult, but you won't really find anything too inspiring either. This book is great for intermediate sewers who are familiar with making basic dresses (all of the dresses in this book are basically like the one on the cover; very simple but flattering on those with builds similar to the model). Curvier people will feel like they are in the 90s again, or feel like they are wearing a mumu.
The style is a little bit like romantic country/ forgotten school girl (think of a bookworm in a Japanese movie). With a few adjustments, these dresses can be more stylish on other figures, but unless you are familiar with pattern alterations, you might be better off looking elsewhere.

Love Love this book and patterns

I love these patterns. My problem is deciding what to make first! I recommend searching online for images of what others have made to get a good idea of just how amazing some of the patterns are, for further inspiration, and ideas on alterations to the patterns. After doing so, it opened my mind up to so many more possibilities. There is a great blog/shop that will come up in your search. The blogger makes several of the dresses and tops in this book and she makes suggestions on alterations, other books and patterns, and uses such wonderful fabric choices. (I'd include the link but it would just get blocked, it might have something to do with MakeSomething. And no I'm not affiliated with the website, just a fan.)
I should say that perhaps I didn't read closely enough, but I thought this book was in Japanese and was happily surprised to find that it is in English. Also, many people comment on the sizing being really small, but the patterns are cut large, so I think if you want a more fitted style, you size down from the size that is equivalent to your actual measurements.

Simply Awesome !!!!

Ms Tom has a real abilty to make technical material enjoyable to read and at the same time intelligble to the non scientist. What you have here is pure research at its best . This book covers every detail of JKD's primary tool and does so w/ clarity and step by step pictures. Ms Tom has spent over 1000 Hours training w/ Ted Wong (Bruce Lee's close friend and private student) and the wealth of her experince w/ Sifu Ted is clear in this book . This books doesn't Try to be the Complete JKD Bible ...What it does cover though it does so thoroughly w/ documentation photos and great writing.. This book even shows (Correctly I might add) the physics of JKD!!!The book shows you why The Front Hand Lead is the most essential tool in JKD and all of JKD is built upon it ! I applaud Ms Tom's efforts and look forward to more of her written contributions to JKD. It is past time for good material such as this book to come out and clear up the mess made by people quick to cash in on the Name Jeet Kune Do at the expense of the true art JKD.

The Science Of JKD Finally Revealed

I enjoyed reading Teri Tom's book on the Straight Lead. I too had been researching Bruce Lee's sources of his Jeet Kune Do for over 30 years and have kept my findings, discoveries and research to myself. I am glad to see that someone has publicly published a book that has respectfully revealed some of the sources of Bruce Lee's techniques in JKD. Unlike popular belief, Bruce Lee did not take the best of many styles (especially the misconception that Bruce took 27 different arts)to create JKD. To put in bluntly, JKD is a science of martial arts as expressed by the human body. And just as the old Boxing Books helped Bruce Lee understand the Science Of Punching as expressed by the human body, the art that Bruce Lee discovered and eventually called Jeet Kune Do is useful today as it was back in the 1970's. The reason for this is that the art is a Science. And this scientific martial art known as Jeet Kune Do works as well today as it did back then. Unless human beings grow an extra arm or foot, this science can not be ignored. To read Teri Tom's book, will help to understand and appreciate this fact.

Some people may get offended when reading this book because it takes aim at those who counterfeit the art of JKD (Chapter 10). Perhaps this should have been left for another book. But then again, to be politically correct just to sell a book is not something Bruce Lee himself would have done. So you have to give the author credit for telling it like it is, though it won't win any great reviews here in Amazon from those that are teaching the "mixed martial arts" version of JKD.

A book like this should be in every martial artists library, whether you agree with part or all of it's content. If you forget about the politics and just keep an open mind to learn from this book, you will definitely enjoy it. It is sure to be a classic. I can see the martial artist of the future searching for a copy of this book (if it ever goes out of print), just as many people are now searching for books from Jack Dempsey, Jim Driscoll and James Corbett. These authors understood the Science of Punching, and now you have an opportunity to read what they discovered and why Bruce Lee incorporated the Lead Straight Thrust into his Jeet Kune Do. P.S., It is not just a jab, as one reveiwer remarked.

This is a must read for anyone who cares about the integrity of martial arts and Bruce Lee's impact

Anyone who wants to separate the myths from fact will love this book! I can see why the Bruce Lee estate and family has endorsed it. The death of a legendary hero like Bruce Lee often brings out added pain in the form of necromantic exploitation by people that want to attach themselves to the legend. Some have even taken this practice to the point of taking credit for Bruce Lee's art and speaking for him as if from the grave. Bruce Lee's family has had to endure this distasteful fraud that not only misrepresents Mr. Lee but also does the art a disservice.

Teri Tom has done a meticulous job of setting the record straight, exposing these frauds using the best weapon; facts. Shannon Lee was very careful to approve everything that would represent her father honestly and accurately and provided a treasure chest of evidence to back up every claim.

It's easy to see where this book will ruffle the feathers of those who have created their own "cult" by exploiting the myths that this book dispels.

A previous reviewer seems to be a member of that necromantic "cult" considering his weak logic and attempts to respond to claims that this book does not make instead of addressing the facts. If he had honestly read it, he would have known that Ted Wong does not claim to be Bruce Lee. This reviewer seems to be very interested in making lame excuses for the people that have contributed to the mythology that has polluted Bruce Lee's incredible impact on the martial arts world. I wonder why. Hmmmm

Good guide

This book describes most of the basic combinations for Asian style Mahjong and I have used it with several classes. There are a few problems that should have been edited but are easily corrected. I like the book because it explains the rules and scoring of Mahjong and provides pictoral references of dealing, set up of walls, and scoring hands.

A Must Have...

...if you intend to play the game the way the majority of the people on the planet play it. Oddly this is the only book readily available in English that does so. She could do a better job explaining the seemingly arcane scoring system, but for the most part this was a much appreciated addition to my library.

About the Author
Miki Garcia is a journalist by training and a food aficionado by vocation. She obtained a Master's Degree in Journalism in England and is the author of two books: All About Ireland and How To Get Involved with International Organizations. She is an expert on Kapampangan culture and history and, though she has lived and traveled in nearly 100 countries, her greatest love is for the melting-pot food of the Philippines, where she lived for a year. She resides in San Francisco, California.

Luca Invernizzi Tettoni is a world-renowned photographer who has lived and worked in Asia since 1973. He specializes in books on Asian culture. Among his many publications are Tropical Asian Style, Balinese Gardens, Thai Style, The Tropical Spa and Contemporary Thai.

Theo Domini O. Zaragoza has a natural gift for cooking and an aptitude for creativity. He studied Food Styling at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. The marriage of his two passions, culinary and design, are his consummate bliss. In 2004, he set up a food styling and food photography firm in the Philippines, the Resultado Gourmet Designs. Amazed at the accuracy

As a Filipino, I'm amazed and delighted by the cultural accuracy of this book. I chuckle to myself every time I crack this book open. For instance, for the "vegetables" chapter, the author openly admits that "Filipinos are not known for their consumption of vegetable-only dishes". I've had this problem every time I'm invited to a "cultural potluck" and someone in the group is vegetarian -- it just doesn't work! Even Pinakbet, the quintessential vegetable dish of the Philippines, is flavored with bagoong (shrimp paste). I usually end up just making a dessert.

Here's another one: "Pulburon cookies... have become popular pasalubong (gifts or souvenir items) purchased by people who visit the Philippines for friends back home". I thought this was just a thing within my family!

As for the recipes, they are extremely accurate as well. The Kare-Kare (oxtail stew) calls for regular old sweet peanut butter, not that "all natural" stuff. It also doesn't make you grind the peanuts yourself. It presents each recipe just as a REAL Filipino would cook it, not some "gourmet" permutation.

I highly recommend this book not only as a cookbook, but also as a cultural guide to Filipino cuisine.

Great cookbook!

I bought this book because it features some Kapamangan recipes. I know the Kapampangans are well-known in the Philippines for their fine cuisine.
I have tried some desert recipes and they were so yummy (especially Leche Flan and yemas my personal favorites) and my friends loved them too. I will update this review once I have tried other recipes in this book. I can't wait to try adobo...The book is glossy shiny good quality print, with mouthwatering photographs!

I've looked at Filipino cookbooks before and this one has a great lay-out that makes learning how to make Filipino food easy and fun. Great explanation of things to know before starting to cook. Pictures are great.

About the Author
Since 1965, Ronald G. Knapp has spent significant time carrying out research in the Chinese countryside and is the author or contributing editor of more than a dozen books, including the award-winning Chinese Houses: The Architectural Heritage of a Nation. Knapp is currently SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the State University of New York, New Paltz, where he also lives.

Currently based in Hong Kong, A. Chester Ong has photographed widely throughout Asia. His photography appears in magazines, exhibitions, as well as books, including China Modern, Chinese Houses, and China Living.

When Function Meets Romantacism

If there ever were structures that should follow the maxim that form follows function it would have to be bridges. It is impossible to imagine a more practical structure. Yet, "Chinese Bridges" shows what happens when the Chinese bring their own romantic, over the top aesthetic to the art of bridge building. The result is architectural intoxication of the highest order.

"Chinese Bridges" begins by cataloging the different styles of bridges and then moves to the spiritual dimensions the Chinese embued in their bridges. It concludes with detailed studies of individual bridges. These bridges range from humble vernacular bridges in China's heartland to the beautifully ornate bridges of the country's elites.

Ronald Knapp has been studying the rural architecture of China since 1965 and is one of foremost historian's of China's vernacular architecture. He is a strong writer and his text is well complimented by Chester Ong's beautiful photographs. "Chinese Bridges" is a complementary volume to Knapp's "Chinese Houses". Both are beautifully produced volumes and are a must purchase for fans of Chinese and vernacular architecture. These are two of the finest books in my collection. Highly recommended.

A treasure for Chinophiles!

This most unusual book is my very favorite of all the China books in my collection! Ronald G. Knapp always turns out lovely books but this time he's outdone himself. China is full of marvelous and unique bridges and this book has gorgeous photos of many of them. What a visual feast. I am an artist and have visited China twice. Although I have LOTS of my own photos, this book will provide inspiration for years to come. Magnificent photography - photos I've never seen before. I was so sorry to get to the end of the book, I went back to the beginning and looked through it again! I love this book. If you love China and Chinese things, you'll love it too.

Bridges are for People

This book delights on several levels. First are the stupendous photographs with brilliant colors and clarity of details. Who knew there are so many interesting historical bridges in China scattered throughout the country in all geographical locations? The photos by Chester Ong are all of first-rate quality and they show both the bridges and the particular natural environments in which they were built. In a few cases historical photographs show how the bridges looked over a hundred years ago, to show us how the bridges have been repaired or tarted up to serve their contemporary communities.

The second delight is the informative text by Ronald Knapp. His explanations comment on the type of materials used, some of the construction or design principles employed, and the most outstanding feature of the bridge. Never ponderous, the commentaries flow smoothly as a compliment to each photograph. The reader will find their eyes darting from the commentary back to the photo again and again because the commentaries and photos are so well integrated.

The third delight is that the bridges are respected not only as historical artifacts or marvels of engineering technology, usually built by local people who had no knowledge of engineering theory, but bridges are explained in terms of their role within each local community. Of course bridges helped people cross rivers and wetlands, but they served in other ways as well. Many bridges had temples to local deities, so they were a site for worship, usually by people asking the gods for protection and help. Bridges could be the site of local markets, where foot traffic was heavy and the chance to sell was enhanced. Some bridges were so elaborate that a tea house was built in the middle where travelers could stop for some refreshment and to admire the view from the top of the bridge at its highest arc. Indeed, most of the photos show the interaction of local people with the bridge, so expect to see farmers, children, workers or tourists taking advantage of and having fun on the bridge.

In sum, I liked this approach that sets each bridge in a wider context. On almost every page one will find the author's and photographer's emphasis on the interaction of community, people, the economy and geography with the bridges. This gave me an appreciation for the many roles played by bridges. They were much more than utilitarian conveniences, and in some instances even became the center-point of their community.

In an introductory section, Loori traces the history of dharma (wisdom about harmony with the cosmos) in Zen Buddhism. In the remainder of the book, he collects 21 koans from classical and modern sources and then teaches them through his extended dharma discourses. Loori's teachings sparkle with the insight of one who has been illuminated by the constant challenge of the koans; and his collection, both in its variety and its authority, greatly surpasses such previous books as Thomas Cleary's No Barriers: Unlocking the Zen Koan. In this collection of lectures, Loori, the abbot of a Zen monastery, speaks on the uses of koans (unanswerable thought questions) in Zen Buddhist training. There are 21 chapters, each explaining the history, thought, and importance of a single, well-known koan. This collection does not attempt to be a purely historical or comprehensive study or an encyclopedia on Zen koans; it is aptly described as a ``Zen workbook'' to be used by the practitioner, not necessarily the academic. The language is conversational and pedagogical. A minor drawback is the use of the classical Zen expository style, which may make the discussions seem confusing and nonsensical to those unfamiliar with Zen philosophy and its writings. Excellent for the openminded reader.

This is one of the best explanations of Zen koans you will find. In clear and vivid language, Loori demystifies koans, making them understandable. However, judging from the other reviews, not everyone got it. To undertake koan study, Zen study, is not the same as undertaking, say, the study of literature. To study Zen is to attempt to become Zen, become the koan, become the teacher. You can't just learn about koans, you have to let your mind take the shape of each koan. You will change. In contrast, the study of literature is designed to make you a critic or a teacher, not necessarily a great writer. You won't change; you'll just be the same person with some extra knowledge. If your study of Zen has turned you into a critic of Zen masters, then you have wasted your time.

Only a westerner ...

The purpose of the koan is to free the student's mind from its "normal" way of thinking.

Since enlightenment is neither in the koan, nor in the answer, how can there be a book of answers?

Only a westerner with no understanding could have written this.

Buy his book and he will take both your money and your enlightenment!

Better to break his begging bowl so that you can both attend the banquet.

Poor binding

This book is poorly made. The binding split in the middle half of the book, which made several pages surrounding the split very loose and eventually seperate from the binding completely. All of this after I very lightly skimmed through the middle parts of the book. The physical shelf life of this book is not to be trusted.

Simple steps for cultivating mindful living

In this lovely book inspired by the teachings of his beloved master Thich Nhat Hanh, Jerry Braza has condensed and simplified the essential practices of Zen Buddhism. Using the metaphor of the gardener (seeker/self) tending his garden (consciousness), he gives us an easy to read and understand sequence of practical steps for cultivating mindfulness within ourselves and towards others, just as a gardener will carefully select good seeds and soil, nourish good plants but pull weeds and transform the unwanted into fertile compost.
Through the lens of his humility and personal experiences, and using quotations from diverse spiritual traditions, he makes being present and loving seem so simple - which in essence, of course, it is. I was inspired on reading this book and keep it close so that, whenever I feel challenged by negative thoughts and emotions, I can dip into its wisdom and return to peace.

The Seeds of Love opens wisdom doors and illustrates through numerous personal examples and references to texts and commentaries from all major religions, especially the Buddhist path, which is so new to many of us here in the West, ways to transform our sufferings and celebrate our loves and joys. Relating to daily life on every page, new possibilities and visions arise and not only offer insight into many of the deeper teachings of the east and the west, but offer practical guidance to empower each of us to nourish our own good qualities, develop unrecognized or long-lost dimensions in ourselves, and others. Everyone who is in a deep relationship with another should read this book.
I am purchasing one for each branch of my family.

About the Author
Susan Lynn Peterson, Ph.D., is a published author and Gold Medallion Book Award finalist. She holds a third-degree black belt in Okinawan Shuri-ryu karate and is a USA Karate Federation national tournament champion. She has studied karate, kobudo, Shaolin Chuan Fa, and Tai Chi Chuan.

Sensei Karen Vactor has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and a fourth-degree black belt in Okinawan Shuri-ryu karate and other arts. She is a USA Karate Federation tournament champion and has been listed in Marquis Who's Who in Finance and Industry.

Literally Loaded With Lots of Great Information

I have successfully run several different martial arts schools over the years and was a little apprehensive about purchasing this book because I felt that I already knew how to run a martial arts school. So I never did pick up this book when I first saw it a few years ago. And then about two months ago, I ran across this book again in a used book store and decided to spend the couple of bucks they were asking for it. Note that I still felt that I knew how to run a successful martial arts school.

Well after purchasing this book I took it home where it sat for several weeks before I finally decided to open it up and take a look at it. Now I am sitting here writing this review in hopes that I may be able to have some impact on another person such as myself who may be thinking that already know how to run a martial arts school and therefore may tend to disregard this book. It would be a very profound mistake! Trust me, I did and then I realized after reading this book that I may have run successful martial arts schools, but I could have run them even better had I read this book years ago (if it had been available at that time).

I am on the verge of opening up another school after semi-retiring for a few years and I am glad that I picked up this book and read it before I really got started getting everything put together. Now I admit that I knew a lot of the information that is contained in this book, but I will also admit that there was also a lot of information in this book that I didn't know, or didn't know as well as I should have. Needless to say, I am very glad that I read this book and I am really looking forward to implementing a lot of the things I learned in it.

Is this book perfect? Of course not! A lot of what the authors tell you in this book will probably not sit well with a lot of us more traditional martial artists, but if you take what they tell you and modify it accordingly to fit your own specific needs, then you will no doubt be a lot further ahead than if you simply ignored this information.

Now I could go into all the specific areas that are discussed in this book, or I could simply tell you that pretty much everything you need to know from A to Z about starting and running a martial arts school is included in this book. I think I will take the latter.

Here are three other fantastic books that I would recommend to any and all instructors regardless of the particular martial arts style that you are teaching, and those books are Martial Arts Instruction: Applying Educational Theory and Communication Techniques In the Dojo, The Way of Kata: A Comprehensive Guide for Deciphering Martial Applications, and The Way to Black Belt: A Comprehensive Guide to Rapid, Rock-Solid Results all written by Lawrence Kane and Kris Wilder.

Marketing for Martial Artists

As a part-time martial arts instructor who makes a living with his business degrees, I gotta tell you that this is a really well written text. Karen Vactor is a well-rounded martial artist with a business degree who has built three successful karate schools. Susan Peterson, Ph.D. is a professional writer as well as an accomplished martial artist as well. The two have teamed up to create a comprehensive work which, while overly pithy in some areas, is really quite good. Be warned, however, that this book is all about creating and running a commercially successful school. Not all martial artists will agree with the authors' philosophical approach but none can argue with the quality of the materials they provide.

Chapter one covers marketing your identity, whatever it is that makes your school unique and interesting to potential students, including how to choose a name that reflects your image. Chapter two covers the business groundwork, something that very few martial artists really understand how to do properly. It covers advisors (e.g., attorney, accountant) that you might need and how to develop a business plan. Rule number one in retail is location. So is rule 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6... you get the idea. The next chapter not only covers how to find a good location, but also how to figure out what it will cost you, how to negotiate a lease, and how to layout your dojo floor space. Chapter five covers essential legal administrivia like insurance and regulatory compliance.

Chapter six covers student contracts, fee schedules, and hiring employees. Not sure I entirely agree with the author's philosophy here, but the advice is sound nevertheless. Chapter seven covers advertising tools such as brochures, business cards, flyers, and your entrance signage. Chapter eight comprehensively covers basic marketing such as mass mailings, yellow pages ads, etc. Chapter nine goes into more detail on the same subject. Once marketing brings perspective students to your door, chapter ten deals with how to "close the deal" and sign them up. Chapter eleven covers attendance, student tracking, and payment tracking. Chapter eleven covers the how to keep track of your cash flow and create basic financial statements. Chapter thirteen is a good overview of strategies that keep students motivated and interested in coming back. Chapter fourteen covers how to place and sell products associated with your training (e.g., uniforms). It covers the basics of pricing, costs, profits, inventory tracking, and display. The final chapter is a "troubleshooting guide" that can help you solve problems such as high drop out rates, attendance problems, "closing" problems, etc. The glossary of business terms is a great overview for folks who don't really understand all that stuff.

Fantastic Book

This is the best book I've read about starting and maintaining a martial arts studio. The author breaks everything down in easy-to-understand language especially for those of us who have been kicked in the head before. She encourages the reader to start at any chapter that is applicable to them to ensure that this book is applicable not only to new startups but those who are looking for new ideas.

The book is filled with new ideas for operating your school as a business without turning it into a belt-factory (Extremely important in my view)!! I highly recommend this book to all who have a dream of opening their own studio some day.
